Jessica Madrigal

Jessica Madrigal, B.A., is from Oak Lawn, IL. She completed her undergraduate studies at UIC in 2007 where she majored in Anthropology and minored in Biological Sciences. As an Anthropology major, Jessica’s studies focused on the interaction of social, environmental and biological factors which influence health and illness both in the individual and the community as a whole. Currently, Jessica is completing her thesis in the Disability and Human Development Master's program in the College of Applied Health Sciences at UIC. While a student in the Disability and Human Development program, Jessica became interested in accessibility, health promotion and play environments for people with disabilities. Her thesis study is focused on the design of accessible and inclusive play environments for children with and without disabilities. As a graduate student, Jessica worked as a Research Assistant on the AIMFREE Project (Accessibility Instruments Measuring Fitness and Recreation Environments) and assisted with coordination of the Inclusive Fitness Coalition (IFC) working groups. She is currently working as a full-time Visiting Information Specialist with NCPAD and IFC.
